Your Gift. Your Community. Your Legacy.
What we do
The Terrace Community Foundation is an apolitical, philanthropic organization whose purpose is to raise funds and bring donors to the table to build a resilient, resourceful, caring community.
In turn, we provide grants to community groups and organizations that cover a broad spectrum of needs that include (but are not limited to) recreation, health, the arts, the environment, education etc.
We offer a variety of possibilities that allow donors to target specific or broad areas of interest. Endowment funds will provide support in perpetuity so that your investment today will still be providing benefits years into the future. There are additional flow-through options as well. All donations will receive a tax receipt. All monies will remain in our community to benefit our community.
We work with the Prince George Community Foundation for the investment of our funds and to share in their expertise.
Formation of our Foundation
On April 13, 2011 the City of Terrace formed the Terrace Community Foundation, a corporation without share capital under the Canada Corporations Act. The Terrace Community Foundation is governed by a board of directors. The Terrace Community Foundation has an endowment fund agreement with the Prince George Foundation who manages and distributes grants and charitable receipts as directed.
The Terrace Community Foundation created our endowment fund with funds from the Northern Development Initiative Trust Community Foundations Matching Grants program. This program provides municipalities or regional districts with up to $50,000 from a Regional Development account in matched funding to assist with the establishment of a dedicated endowment within a registered community foundation. Every dollar raised within the community is matched up to a total of $50,000. The City of Terrace provided $50,000 giving us a $100,000 endowment fund. To-date our endowment fund has grown to just over $394,000.00! We provide grants from the interest earned on this base amount.
